KARIBAN BRANDS: an agent of change
Environmental and social commitments lie at the heart of KARIBAN BRANDS. We always try to go one step further by emphasising the idea of eco-responsibility in our production process. We act in three particular ways: promoting the choice of sustainable materials, highlighting the value of expertise and optimising local supply networks.
We are expanding our wardrobe with new styles made from natural and virtuous fibres such as organic cotton certified by Ecocert Greenlife. This approach helps to protect the environment and support the people who work hard to add that special something to our collections. At the same time, we are developing clothing made from recycled materials such as recycled cotton and recycled polyester. Recycled cotton has a low environmental footprint and its production consumes far less water and energy than classic cotton. Recycled polyester reduces our dependence on materials derived from petrochemistry as it is made from existing materials. Its production consumes less energy than classic polyester and it makes use of waste that would otherwise be incinerated.
Each day, we take up new challenges to reduce our impact on the planet. We are increasingly following an eco-design approach and ramping up our production of eco-responsible products. We are also reviewing our production methods in order to create sustainable alternatives and plan for the future.
The main factories we work with are located in Bangladesh. Societal values and safety are our priorities. Several years ago, we opened an office employing around twenty people with the aim of continuously monitoring the factories we work with. This operation verifies the social and environmental policy, monitors production and guarantees adherence to the quality charter in our partnership.
We have increased our selection of European companies to champion the unique know-how of Member State manufacturing workshops while mastering the various steps, from production to distribution of our textiles and accessories.
The know-how of the selected European factories brings added value to our products in terms of both quality and human diversity. The techniques used, the expertise at every step in the manufacturing process and the artisanal touch are a huge plus and a sign of quality.
We carefully select our raw materials and pay particular attention to our production and distribution channels. By opting for local supply networks, we minimise our environmental footprint and prioritise the local economy. Relocating or even locating textile production in Europe boosts employment and the development of new skills and technologies.
What’s more, fostering links between neighbouring countries also helps to increase the use of local or eco-designed materials for ethical fashion.
